Abstract

The formation of intellectual capital (IC) of natural sciences at scientific institutions (SIs) in Latvia is highly topical. The object of the research is the formation of IC of natural sciences at SIs while the subject of the research is the comparative analysis of the efficiency of the involvement of academic staff and PhD students in the formation of IC of natural sciences at SIs of Latvia. The objective of the research is to study the involvement of academic staff and PhD students in the formation of IC of natural sciences at SIs in Latvia in the period from 2013 to 2018. The following tasks were determined to reach the objective: to study the formation of IC of natural sciences at SIs; to identify the concept of the efficiency of the involvement of academic staff and PhD students in the formation of IC of natural sciences; to calculate main indicators thereof, and, to carry out the comparative analysis of indicators characterising the efficiency of the involvement of academic staff and PhD students in the formation of IC of natural sciences at SIs in Latvia. Research methods used in the paper are content analysis, economic analysis, and economic experiment.

Dr. Inese Spica is lead researcher at the Scientific Institution Business Competence Centre and professor at the ISMA University in Riga, Latvia. She is scientific editor of two scientific journals, monographs and has been managed annual three international scientific practical conferences on business competences, on trade marketing, on business environment.

Rozite Katrina Ponne, Scientific Institution Business Competence Centre, Riga, Latvia

Rozite Katrina Ponne is currently a PhD student at the Latvian Academy of Culture and Researcher at the Scientific Institution Business Competence Centre. She obtained her Masters degree and Bachelors degree in Arts Sciences at the Latvian Academy of Culture. Her research focuses on etnicity studies and intellectual capital formation.

Ernests Spics, Scientific Institution Business Competence Centre, Riga, Latvia

Ernests Spics is Researcher at the Scientific Institution Business Competence Centre. He obtained his Masters degree in Public Administration at the University of Latvia and the Professional qualification of the Choreographer at the Music Conservatoire of Latvia. His publications focuses on ethnoproducts, its marketing management and intellectual capital formation.

Peteris Ponnis is Researcher at the Scientific Institution Business Competence Centre. She obtained his Masters degree in Arts at the Wismar University of Applied Sciences and Bachelors degree in Arts at the Latvian Aca-demy of Arts. His research focuses on architectural light design and intellectual capital formation.
