Game-Based Learning (GBL) has proved to be an efficient approach for motivating learners and improving educational performance. However, current educational games are prone to fall into one of two categories: immersive and highly sophisticated learning tools or simplistic quiz applications which lack interaction opportunities. Thus, there is a need to design new educational games with lightweight and easy-to-use interface. This paper presents Fun Tac Toe, a multiplatform educational game that combines trivia-based learning elements with the rules of classic Tic-Tac-Toe. In particular, users will have to provide correct answers to knowledge-based questions before marking a cell. The proposed design will help learners to practice retrieval, get instant feedback, stay involved in learning and participate in an interactive experience at the same time. The system is implemented using Flutter and Firebase, providing a scalable architecture that supports mobile, web, and desktop platforms together with real-time multiplayer functionality. The category-based design also enables it to be adapted easily to different educational subjects while preserving the same gameplay mechanics. An initial classroom deployment shows the feasibility of integrating this platform in education at the level of undergraduate teaching and is accompanied by an evaluation framework that considers academic performance, learner engagement, usability, and interaction patterns. The preliminary deployment provides encouraging evidence regarding classroom integration while establishing a foundation for larger controlled experiments. Overall, the paper demonstrates how game mechanics could be utilized for creating accessible and scalable educational experiences, providing researchers with foundation for further research in the area of game-based learning.
