Abstract

Combat leadership defined as the ability to inspire and coordinate teams in high-pressure, high-importance, and high-threat environments is a critically important but under-discussed topic in leadership studies. While conventional military leadership is well-documented, specific data from active combat zones remains scarce. This research gap is primarily due to the ethical imperative that researchers ought not interfere with or compromise the safety of personnel in "in extremis" situations where lives are at immediate risk. To address this gap, this paper suggests a framework for predicting and developing resilient combat leaders by evaluating personnel in high-stress training environments by combining complex psychophysiological evaluations. However, as global political tensions rise, the need for scientifically grounded methods to identify and develop leaders capable of managing these high-risk environments has never been more urgent.
